Dr Monika Gorczynska
Dr Monika is a highly experienced and passionate dentist with a focus on children’s dentistry. Born in Europe and raised in Perth, Monika completed her Bachelor of Dental Science from UWA in 1997.
Dr Monika began her career in the public sector, working with children in a Community Dental Unit in the South West. It was during this time that her love for working with children truly blossomed. She then transitioned to the adult dental service in Perth before moving to the private sector, where she spent several years in general practice.
In private practice, Dr Monika found great reward in developing relationships with her patients, particularly families and children.
Driven by her passion for working with children, Monika returned to the public sector as an Area Dental Officer with the School Dental Service. In this role, she travelled throughout Western Australia, providing dental care exclusively to children. Dr Monika’s responsibilities covered a vast area of country WA and later, Perth. This experience deepened her love for nature and the West Australian landscapes while delivering dental care to isolated and disadvantaged communities. She continued in this role for approximately 10 years, further honing her skills and knowledge in children’s dentistry.
Dr Monika is driven by her passion for helping children thrive and achieve their full potential. She is particularly interested in the microbiome and microbiological factors that drive health or disease. Additionally, she is fascinated by the impact of the environment on the expression of our genes – the epigenome, and lifestyle medicine.
Outside of her professional life, Dr Monika enjoys gardening, always accompanied by her dog Sabai, who shares her love for exploring the bush and long walks. She relaxes by spending time in nature. Dr Monika also has a passion for cooking, embracing different cuisines and delighting in the pleasure her food brings to family and friends.
